Vivienne

I feel excited for so many reasons today. It’s my long-awaited book launch. I’ve been waiting for it for months. We’ve all been preparing for this. All the late nights, the revisions, the hysterics and all the coffees and at last, everything is coming to light. I can’t wait to see how my fans will react to my new book. I’m a bit anxious and a little scared this time. But I know that I’ll be content with whatever response my book will get. I’m still proud of this because of my personal journey.

I get my phone to call Charlene.

“Charl? Is Dusty already there?”

“Yes, we’re only waiting for you now. What time will you get here?”

“Oh. Give me 30 minutes. I’m almost done then I’ll leave right away.”

“Sure thing. See you, Viv!”

“Mhm. See you, Charlene.”

Everyone’s there already. Now I start getting anxious again. Relax, Viv. It’s all going to be fine.

I finish getting ready and leave my apartment. As I drive to the venue for the convention, I remember that Blake is also going to be there. Now I feel excited.

I arrive at the venue in less than 30 minutes. I shouldn’t be late for my own book launching. As I got out of the car, I see Charlene waving at me and telling me to enter at the side door.

This is it, Vivienne!

I make my way to her and saw Dusty waiting for us inside.

“Hey, Viv! I thought you were going to be late.”

“Of course not! I’m too excited to be late.”

We all laugh and Charlene went over the schedule again.

“Okay, business first.”

I turn to look at her and smile. “Go on.”

“So the launch will start at exactly 4:30 pm. It’s already 4:05 on my clock. The press is already here, waiting. Interviews will be done after. And then we have the fan-signing event at 5:00 pm and that will last for another 30 minutes.”

“Okay, not too hectic. It’s not like the press will interview me page to page.” I chuckle and saw Dusty rolling his eyes.

“Yeah, but still be prepared for any questions. And I mean any, okay? They can be nasty. They wouldn’t know the meaning of privacy if it danced in front of them.”

I laugh and see Charlene and Dusty looking at me curiously.

“What?”

“You’re too happy.”

“Shouldn’t I be? It’s my book launch! I can’t wait to see my fans and talk to them again. It’s the reward I get after all the late nights we pull. Plus with your revision demands, I just need to see the smile on my fans’ faces, and the stress is all gone.”

“Okay, now you’re being totally crazy. Please be normal. We’re about to start in 20 minutes.”

“Charlene, do we have estimates of the crowd? How many are we expecting to arrive?”

“Uh, it should be around 100 or more, Viv. That’s excluding the press. So there should be quite a number. But no worries, everything is okay now. I made sure securities know the crowd estimate and the venue staff will take care of the seats.
